first day of school!
I do apologize for the delay posting this photo, seeing that the first day of school was nearly two days ago now (now being the time I posted this). Here I am on the first day of school, standing on the front porch, fully equipped with my backpack and the sun in my eyes. I wish that L.O. would have had the courtesy to come to College Station for this picture, but she had her own school (Texas Tech) to attend. This first day of school was different from all the others I’ve ever taken part in because for this day, the Lord decided to take the greater part of my voice away, leaving me barely able to communicate with my newfound classmates. I hope that I won’t be shun from the business community as a result of this… well, actually, I don’t think I’d care if that happened. Why did I say business you ask? Because I’m a marketing major, contrary to popular belief.
never a dull moment
I was walking over to the Luther house with my recently viewed copy of Garden State (which I thoroughly enjoyed), which I was going to return to Jon, who borrowed it from Beth, who borrowed it from Megan. I open the front door and I see the roommates hard at work, painting the living room. Logan took the cake with Jessie’s shorts, and I took the picture.
screen shots from an upcoming hit film

Well here’s the sneakiest peek into the most highly anticipated film (that nobody knew existed) of the summer! This film, tentatively titled A Farmer Went Out to Sow His Seed takes its story from the great book Bible. The main character of the book tells many stories, one of which is about a farmer who, all in a days work, was out sowing seeds. The story goes on to tell of the adventures of each seed, and that is exactly what filmmakers Matt Graham and Derrick Oliver tried to portray in this film.
“… yeah, it’s really hard doing claymation in the heat of a summer day in Texas…” said Matt Graham, “but if the story calls for a bright, sunny day, and the deadline is near, we aren’t scared to face the elements.”
“all the seeds worked really hard, and we certainly appreciate their efforts in making this film. Bonuses all around.” - a quote that was heard around the set of A Farmer… from an unknown source.
In short, this is certainly a film everyone in Bryan/ College Station and surrounding areas should see if at all possible. Contact Derrick Oliver via email if you are interested.
Extreme bug update

Quickly, I’d like to share this picture of the most recent bug incident caught on film at the Extreme. The orange bellied bugs are (seemingly) being dominated by the spiders of the house. Who will win in the end? Hopefully the humans, but only time will tell! Stay tuned!
kitties??

In an effort to keep the site new and wonderful (mainly for ol’ Peanut because she doesn’t know how to change it from her homepage), I’ll attempt to post things more regularly. Here you see a picture of one (two if you look closely) of the Luther street cats. His/Her name is Maximus, but we just call him/her Max most the time. He/She got his/her name because he/she is much braver than the other two cats. Max has been so brave as to almost eat out of the hands of both myself and Colby. Despite most of the houses residents disdain for felines, we’ve opted to keep these around to kill the Luther street rats. I don’t know how we’re teaching them to hunt however, seeing how we feed them tuna flavored cat food.
all the clouds broke at once

Here in College Station, it seems to rain around 50 to 60% of 365.25 days in a given year. I’m sure the actual number is significantly smaller, but for those of us who’s main mode of transportation, it seems fairly accurate. Today a storm was brewing right around noon, so Mikey and I decided to make lunch and eat it on the porch to the sights and sounds of said storm rolling in. While we were making our sandwiches, we heard and an enormous amount of rain pelting the roof. We took a look out the back door to see the great rains, and could only laugh at the sight. I couldn’t accurately say what was so funny, but whatever it was, we enjoyed it. So much so that a picture was taken, and posted on the blog. The photo doesn’t exactly do the storm justice, but it was quite the downpour. I had many thoughts of our Biblical friend Noah.
While on the front porch, as Colby, Mikey and I were discussing the greater questions in life, God interrupted with the loudest, most massive crack of thunder I have ever heard in my life, no exaggeration. The only thing I can compare it to is to an explosion at the Batman Stunt Show at Six Flags, only the explosion lasted for 10 seconds. Not like a bunch of separate blasts, but all one, really drawn out one. I proceeded to yell for the next minute or so about how cool God is, and how cool it is that I personally know the guy who made that nearly earth-shaking burst. Rain is so funny.
weekly update
It seems that this website is quickly becoming the D.O. bowling update webpage. In an effort to keep this from happening, I’ve added two pictures on this post. One, inevitably deals with bowling, and the other, well, just read on and see. The photo above (taken by the critically acclaimed Jon Tettleton), is a portrait of me and my cute little bowling ball “La Pat.” She’s the same ball that bowled an unprecedented 124 last week, and this week, well, the results speak for themselves:
Jon: 114 D.O.: 80
Game II
(incomplete game due to time constraints)
Jon: 58 D.O.: 58
In other news, the Extreme has been graced with the presence of many bugs in it’s time as a house, perhaps none so prevalent as the mystery bug pictured below. We’ve had (and still have) our share of roaches, wasps, lovebugs, and spiders, but these orange-bellied pests take the cake.
That’s all in updates from this week. Perhaps you guys won’t have to wait an entire 7 days for the next update. I’m sure Lauren Rouse would appreciate that, seeing how this site is her homepage.
can’t win ‘em all

One of the newest staples in the weekly schedule around the house is Sunday afternoon bowling. These silly bowling alleys in town made the mistake of letting people bowl for free on Sunday’s from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. In today’s bowling competition, we managed to fit in an entire three games in under an hour. Today’s competitors: Mikey and D.O. (aka Frankie). Today’s results are as follows:
Mikey: 126 Frankie: 107
Game II
Mikey: 139 Frankie: 124
Game III
Mikey: 122 Frankie: 100
